Compared to other Calgary communities, Bridlewood is new. It was first established in 1998 and has been growing ever since. Because it's so new, it does not have development on all sides, making it one with the country. This is quite rare for Calgary communities, even ones established in the same time period. As a result the community is very peaceful and inviting to those looking for a slower pace of life, but with proximity to all the faster-paced things needed when the time comes.

The north border of Bridlewood is 162 Avenue, South is 22X, east is James McKevitt, and West is 37 Street. Home prices range from $350,000 to $700,000, with a total of 4,200 residences located within the community. The 2012 population was 11,835 persons.

Transit
Bus route 14 serves Bridlewood, as well as Cranston, with a stop at Bridlecreek and Bridlewood. The nearest terminal is Somerset Bridlewood.

Parks & Recreation
Medium and small green spaces are located in Bridlewood, but no named parks exist there. Just across Stoney Trail SE however is the Spruce Meadows Off-Leash Dog Park, perfect for the many pet owners living in the community. Also along the eastern edge of the community is a narrow lake.

Inside Bridlewood is the Bridlewood Shopping Centre, a small collection of shops and eateries. Other nearby stores include Shoppers Drug Mart, Addition Elle, Winners, Sears Canada and the large Shawnessy Village Shopping Center. This is a big part of how the area remains true to the country on its western side and true to the city on its eastern side.
