McKenzie Towne is a popular master-planned community in Southeast Calgary. While surrounding communities emphasize lakes as focal points, McKenzie Towne strives for more of a balance -- ponds, pathways, an outdoor park. McKenzie Towne actually comprises three different neighborhoods: Preswick, Elgin and Inverness.

In the same vein as it strives for recreational balance, McKenzie Towne remains accessible to those looking for million-dollar homes as well as homes starting at $300,000; the number of the homes in the community is currently approximately at 6,783. In 2012 the population was 16,102.

Transit
The McKenzie Town Express bus, following route 117, serves this community, hence its name, with several express tops and time points throughout.

Parks & Recreation
McKenzie Towne has a lot to do right within the community. Its private park, gym, pathways, green spaces and banquet/meeting facilities provide much more in terms of amenities than other Calgary suburban communities. Next door to the community, to the west, is the Bow River as well, complete with walking trails and ample room for water-based recreational activities.

The community is flanked by the Shawnessy Village Shopping Center to the west and Southpointe Shopping Center to the east. For amusement residents will find Fun N' More, Laser Quest, The Shooting Edge, Heritage Park Historical Village and Shakers Fun Centre more than adequate.
