Aspen Woods is a relatively recent community in Calgary, established in 2001, nearly 50 years after the land was annexed. Usually in the city when land is annexed that occurs shortly prior to the establishment of a community.

In 2012 the population was 5,271; 2,281 residences housed these persons, usually no smaller than 2,000 square feet. These homes are also all about luxury, spread out across six neighborhoods: Aspen Stone, Aspen Meadows, Aspen Hills, Aspen Estates, Aspen Ridge and Castle Keep. Prices range from approximately $700,000 to $3,000,000, easily some of the highest mortgages in the entire city.

Transit
Aspen Woods is served by bus route 456. This route moves through the community in a counterclockwise circle with two stops. The closest terminal is at 69 Street; below are the busses that run the route.

Parks & Recreation
Aspen woods has four ample green spaces within its borders. Its main draw however is the Westside Recreation Centre, which has indoor as well as outdoor activities, including: pathways, basketball, skateboarding, youth fitness activities, ice skating, wall climbing, badminton, track, fitness workouts and swimming in the Aquatic Park.

The Westgate Shopping Centre and Strathcona Square Shopping Center are both located nearby. Both of these locations stress high-end shopping and services like Bonita Runway Ladies Wear.
