Parks & Recreation
Parkland, as its name implies, is located along the eastern border of Fish Creek Provincial Park. For lovers of the outdoors this park offers it all -- hiking, biking, bird watching and swimming. Opened in 1975 after being purchased from the Burns family in 1972, the park is an extremely popular local attraction; in fact, the park is much more than a park. Located on-site is the Bow Valley Ranch Visitor Centre, Sikome Aquatic Facility, Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant, Annie's Bakery as well as Artisan Gardens.
Movie theaters located nearby include the Landmark Cinemas 10 Shawnessy and the Canyon Meadows Cinemas. Popular shopping outlets include the Southcentre Mall, Lake Bonavista Promenade, Shawnessy Centre and the Willow Park Village Shopping Centre.
Two schools serve the Parkland community: the public Prince of Wales Elementary, and the private St. Philip Elementary School.
