Millrise - SW Calgary Real Estate


Millrise is a relatively new community for southwest Calgary, developed in 1982. The home prices are very accessible at $4-700,000 approximately, making the area a great place to raise a family. The borders of the community include James McKeveritt Road SW to the north and west, Shawnessy Boulevard SW to the south and Macleod Trail SE to the east. 2,635 homes make up the community as well, which had a population of approximately 6,717 as of 2012.

Transit
Millrise is served by bus route 15. The route winds counterclockwise through the community and has one stop near Shawnessy Boulevard and Shawinigan Drive.

Parks & Recreation
Millcrest Park is located right inside the community; it contains ample green space and two baseball fields, which are the most popular amenity in Calgary suburban parks. However, there are many outdoor areas nearby which can be easily enjoyed by members of the Millrise community. For example, the Fish Creek Provincial Park to the northeast. This is one of the most popular parks in all of Calgary, it has seemingly endless features like swimming, bird watching, biking, hiking and walking trails, the Artisan Gardens, Annie's Bakery, Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant, the Sikome Aquatic Facility, and the Bow Valley Ranche Visitor Centre.

All the significant shopping in the area ins located east along Macleod Trail, such as a the Shawnessy Village Shopping Centre, Midnapore Mall and Boulevard Shopping Centre.
