Kelvin Grove - SW Calgary Real Estate


The community of Kelvin Grove is bordered by Glenmore Trail SW to the north, Elbow Drive SW to the east, 15th Avenue SW to the south and Kew Street SW to the west. Located along the Glenmore Reservoir, the homes here are understandably pricey; the reservoir is home to the best real estate in southwest Calgary. Home prices range from approximately $800,000 to $2M, the homes at the lower end usually consisting of bungalows. Kelvin Grove was established in 1960, and by 2012 comprised a community of 903 residences housing a population of 2,343 persons.

Transit
A CTrain line runs north east of Macleod Trail. The nearest bus route is 79, with the station at Bonaventure Drive and Heritage Drive SE.

Parks & Recreation
In the southeast corner of the community is Kelvin Grove Park, next to Henry Wise Wood High School. However, the community also borders the Glenmore Reservoir, just beyond the Rockyview General Hospital to the west of the community. A short drive up Glenmore Bridge Road and residents can enjoy the Glenmore Pathway, which winds along the reservoir and the affluent communities of Bel-Aire and Mayfair.

The big recreational attraction in the area is the Heritage Park Historical Village, located just southwest of the community. This historical site maps out the area's history from 1860 to 1950. The five areas of the park include the 1860s Fur Trading Fort and First Nationals Encampment, the 1880s Pre-Railway Settlement, the 1900s Living Historical Village and the Heritage Town Square.
