Parkland - SE Calgary Real Estate


Parkland is a beautiful community located along the Bow River in Southeast Calgary. It's bordered by Canyon Meadows Drive to the north, Fish Creek Park to the south, Bow Bottom Trail to the east and Fish Creek Park to the west. The 2011 population was 3,772, living within 1,477 dwellings consisting mostly of single-family homes.

Transit
The bus route which services the Parkland community runs along Parkridge Drive and onto Canyon Meadows Drive to the Time Point on Macleod Trail. The CTrain line for the area runs roughly along Macleod Trail with stops at Fish Creek-Lacombe, Canyon Meadows and Anderson.

Parks & Recreation
Parkland, as its name implies, is located along the eastern border of Fish Creek Provincial Park. For lovers of the outdoors this park offers it all -- hiking, biking, bird watching and swimming. Opened in 1975 after being purchased from the Burns family in 1972, the park is an extremely popular local attraction; in fact, the park is much more than a park. Located on-site is the Bow Valley Ranch Visitor Centre, Sikome Aquatic Facility, Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant, Annie's Bakery as well as Artisan Gardens.

Movie theaters located nearby include the Landmark Cinemas 10 Shawnessy and the Canyon Meadows Cinemas. Popular shopping outlets include the Southcentre Mall, Lake Bonavista Promenade, Shawnessy Centre and the Willow Park Village Shopping Centre.

Schools
Two schools serve the Parkland community: the public Prince of Wales Elementary, and the private St. Philip Elementary School.

Houses of Worship
Parkland only has a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located directly within its borders, but the following other houses of worship are located nearby:
