The Bowness community is bordered by Stoney Trail W to the west, the Bow River to the east, the Trans Canada Highway to the south and the Bow River again to the north. The community was founded in 1963, is currently undergoing redevelopment, and by 2012 had a population of just over 11k persons residing in 5,300+ residences. Prices of these residences range from $200,000 to over $2M.

This community is fortunate to have within its borders Bowness Park, located on the Bow River. Though closed for repairs due to flooding the park is wonderful and offers cross-country skiing, fire pits, picnic areas, Bow River access, water fountains, washrooms, shelters, a playground and hiking/walking paths.

More testament to the well-rounded nature of this community is the location of the West Bowness Shopping Centre right within the community borders. It features a variety of shops, eateries and service providers.
